Thirty-three branches of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) would be opened in Odisha on September 1.
The Chief Postmaster General in a release informed that the IPPB services would also be launched at 166 access points (Post Officers) on the day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch the IPPB with 650 branches and 3,250 access points on September 1 of which 33 branches and 165 access points would be in Odisha, the release said.
The IPPB would offer a range of products such as savings and current accounts, remittances and money transfer, direct benefit transfers, bill and utility payments, enterprise and merchant payments.
As per payments bank guidelines, the IPPB would partner with financial organisations to provide loans, investment and insurance products.
A total of 8,050 access points would be rolled out in Odisha by December 31, 2018.
Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Tribal Welfare Minister Jual Oram would grace the occasion as chief guest at the Circle Branch Bhubaneswar and Sundargarh Branch, respectively, during launching ceremony.
