To increase green cover in the State, about 25 lakh saplings would be planted under a special campaign by the Haryana Forest Department.
“To ensure public participation in this campaign, students of government schools would be given Rs 50 every 6 months for three years for plantation and taking care of the plants,” said Haryana Forest and Public Works (B&R) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh on Friday.
The Minister was speaking at the “Reduced Emission From Deforestation and Forest Degeneration (REDD)” workshop organized in Bhondsi in district Gurugram.
The workshop was organized by the German Development Institute, GIZ, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, at Bhondsi Nature Camp (Gurugram).
NGOs and forest officials from different districts of the state participated in the workshop and discussed about the plans for environmental conservation and ways to prevent climate change.
