In a joint operation by special staff of Dwarka district and Najafgarh Police Station, a 23-year-old man identified as Deepak, alias Dawood, was arrested for allegedly murdering one Roshan at point blank range in a busy market on November 20 this year. He was produced before the court on Thursday, police said.
“The deceased also had criminal records; however, he was shot in a busy market causing outrage and panic among the locals. CCTV footages of several cameras were analyzed and it was ascertained that total three persons on a motorcycle had come to commit the murder,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse stated.
According to police on Wednesday, they received a tip off that Deepak was seen in Naya Bazar area and can be arrested. A trap was laid and he was arrested at around 9 pm.
“During interrogation, it was found that Deepak was a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana. Ill-tempered, he was famous for committing petty crimes and carrying illegal weapons. He was associated with “Nandu” gang and when few associates of the gang were murdered in the last few years, Deepak suspected the deceased Roshan of being the snitch and planned the murder,” said the DCP. Police revealed that he was also wanted on a case of firing in Bahadurgarh police station for allegedly firing at the residence of his girlfriend’s relatives to intimidate them for objecting to their relationship.
