Punjab Edu Dept suspends five teachers
Chandigarh: Punjab Education Department has suspended 6 employees, including five teachers due to laxity in duty. A spokesman said those teachers who have been suspended are Germanjit Singh, lecturer Government Senior Secondary School Jabowal (Amritsar), Aman Sharma, lecturer Government Senior Secondary School Sohian Kalan (Amritsar), Mangal Singh, lecturer Political Science Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Verka, Udham Singh Punjabi Teacher Government Middle School loharka Khurad (Amritsar), Ashwani Awasthi, SS Teacher Government Senior Secondary School Khilchiyan and Parmod Midha Junior Scale Stenographer office of DEO (Secondary) Amritsar. These orders have been issued by Director Education (Secondary).
Soni forms squad for checking on brick kilns
Chandigarh: Punjab Environment Minister Om Prakash Soni has constituted flying teams to mitigate the black smoke emanating from the chimneys of brick kilns. These teams will ensure the use of pollution control equipments in brick kilns. In a meeting with the owners of brick kilns here, Soni said that black smoke is emanating from use of tyres or other substandard fuels, which make the environment poisonous. In order to overcome this problem, Environment Department has assigned this job to its chief engineers, under which the flying teams have been formed. These teams will regularly conduct the checking of the brick kilns, he said.
lectures series ‘WE 4 ClIMATE’ to be held in HP
Shimla: A popular series of lectures ‘WE 4 ClIMATE’ on climate change and sustainable development will be held in Himachal under the Indo-German bilateral project ‘Climate Change Adaptation in Rural Areas of India (CCA RAI)’ which is being implemented in Himachal Pradesh by Department of Environment, Science & Technology. Director, Environment, Science and Technology DC Rana said that the first lecture has been scheduled to be held on August1 t Shimla followed by planary sessions Director General, Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi Sunita Narain will deliver the first lecture. There will be four lectures one each at Shimla, Nauni, Palampur and Nahan.
Efforts on to beautify tourist spots
Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra Development Board chief executive officer Pooja Chawaria on Monday said that efforts will be made to beautify the shrines and tourist spots under the Board through plantation campaign. This campaign has been started by planting 1600 sapling at Brahmasarovar's sanctuary. Pooja, after inaugurating the Environmental Surprising Message Program organized on KDB's golden jubilee celebration, said that such programmes would also be organized in the future.
HP CM flags off Mountaineering Expedition
Shimla: Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur on Monday flagged off the Northern Frontier level Mountaineering Expedition team from ITBP Sector Headquarter Taradevi, Shimla. The expedition will last for 40 days and will summit at Manirang Peak at the height of 20630 feet from sea level in lahaul Spiti district. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that ITBP Jawans were involved in protection of the motherland India with dedication, patriotism and professional efficiency by tackling the adverse weather conditions. He said that such expeditions train the force personnel to face uncertain and grievous circumstances with accountability and initiative besides developing leadership, affinity discipline and the spirit of self-confidence in them.
