Rs 8.6 cr spent for Odia Chairs outside State

The State Government has spent a total of Rs 8.60 crore for managing two Odia Chairs, one named after Adikabi Sarala Das at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and another after Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja at the Benaras Hindu University, during the last two years.

It was revealed from the information submitted in the State Assembly by Odia language, literature and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda in response to a question of MlA Dilip Ray.

However, the department had no information about the fact that however, the Satyabadi Chair and the Artaballav Mohanty Chair established at the Utkal University are out of operation now.

The Minister the information is being collected from the Higher Education Department.

The Minister informed that the Government has allocated Rs 10,01,000 in the current year’s budget for managing Odia Chairs in universities.
