A Chair and Research Centre in the name of Utkalgaurab Madhusudan Das was inaugurated at the KIIT School of law here on Saturday, the birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter, who played a pioneering role in making Odisha a separate State.
The Chair and Research Centre would help students and researchers for higher study and research on Madhubabu, who was the first law graduate and first lawyer from Odisha.
The Chair and Research Centre were inaugurated by Rajya Sabha member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. Dr Bimalendu Mohanty, former VC, Utkal University of Culture, was guest of honour.
KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, in his welcome address, threw light on some important aspects of Madhubabu’s life. The students and researchers can extensively study and research on Madhubabu through this chair and research centre, he added.
KIIT University VC Prof Hrushikesha Mohanty gave presidential address while KIIT law School Director Prof NK Chakraborti proposed a vote of thanks. The guests released a translated Hindi book “Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das” written by Dr Bimalendu Mohanty.
