Policeman sustains bullet injury
Dehradun:A policeman from Udham Singh Nagar police Mukesh Verma sustained bullet injury when he resisted some criminals trying to rob a bank located at Patramill (Gurkikhan) in Khatima at around 3 am on Tuesday. The policeman who was on night duty saw the lock of the bank broken. When the criminals were busy breaking the locker with the help of a gas cutter the policeman arrived at the spot. The criminals fired on him, leaving him injured. The criminals escaped the scene thereafter. Criminals could not rob the bank, the bank officials said. A case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered against the criminals in khatima police station, said K S Rawat, in-charge of the police station. Teams have been formed to crack the case, Rawat added.
Three nabbed for assaulting Tv Journalist
Dehradun:Dehradun police have arrested three employees of a country liquor shop at Aaragarh on late Monday night on the charge of assaulting Avnish Pal, a television journalist, on January 21. The accused have been identified as Suraj Sharma of Saharanpur, Pavan Batra of Rishikesh and Ramnarayan of Patelnagar. After receiving a complaint, a case under sections 323/392/504/506 of IPC was earlier registered against the trio.
Biker dies in road accident
Dehradun:A biker died after the two-wheeler he was riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Nayagoan on late Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Yogendra Singh, resident of Patelnagar. Nayagoan police post police personnel rushed to the spot and took him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The body was sent for post-mortem. A case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered against unidentified vehicle owners in the police station, said a police officer.
Jal Nigam employees lock offices over non-payment
Dehradun:Angered over delay in clearance of their salaries for the past three months, a section of the Jal Nigam employees locked the offices on Tuesday. The protesters under the banner of Officers/ Employees Joint Coordination Committee earlier staged demonstration, demanding prompt release of their salaries. According to protesters, around 1400 employees have joined the stir. Work in the department was adversary affected. One of the protesters Kailash Chandra Negi warned that they would intensify their stir unless their demand is met.

DGP wants work efficiency for pac/irb jawans
Dehradun:State DGP Anil K Raturi stressed on enhancing work efficiency of PAC/IRB jawans while reviewing PAC/IRB administrative and operational works at a meeting with the commandants, deputy commandants and assistant commandants at police headquarters on Tuesday. He said that to enhance the work efficiency of PAC/IRB jawans, a high level training on disaster management, riot control and jal police would be given in the coming days.
DM orders special check post t0 curb illegal mining
Dehradun:Taking note of complaints on rampant illegal mining from the riverbeds in the district, Dehradun District Magistrate has directed the officers concerned to prepare special check post in their jurisdictional limits. Subsequently, special check posts have been set up at Dudhli, lal Tappar, Nepali Farm Dhamawala, langha Road, Sports College, Raipur, Sahastradhara Road. Additional DM Arvind Pandey informed that six vehicles loaded with illegal mining have been seized on Tuesday.
