Two persons were killed and 30 others injured as an overloaded mini-truck fell off a bridge near Nuagaon in Nayagarh district on Wednesday.
The vehicle was on its way from Banigochha to Nuagon and occupants were going to attend a marriage procession when the mishap occurred.Sources said driver of the truck, which was carrying more than 40 passengers, was reportedly drunk and driving recklessly. Despite being repeatedly asked by passengers to slow down, he over speeded and also abused them.
However, near the bridge he lost control and vehicle fell off it. The injured were rushed by locals and fire service personnel to the Daspalla Community Health Centre. later, getting information the Nayagarh district Superintendent of Police rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operations. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
