The third preparatory meeting for the World Odia Convention to be held in Delhi on July 28 and 29 was held at Kolkata on May 27.
President of the organisation Murali Sharma presided over the meeting. Delegates of Odia Diaspora from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata attended the meet. Eleven important issues were identified for detailed deliberation. The meet described eleven issues as Ekadash Mantra for future course of action.
It included proposals like propagating lord Jagannath Culture, formation of Kalinga regiment in Indian Army, recognising Odishi Sangeet as classical music, developing tourist points of the State to attract foreign footfalls, among others.
Kishore Dwibedi and Satyabrata Panda coordinated the meeting. General secretary Bibhu Prasad Nayak presented the objectives of the meet. East Zone coordinator Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra welcomed the delegates. Adviser Pitambar Barik presented the vote of thanks.
Chairman of the organising committee Khirod Kumar Jena, Nihar Samantara, Subas Gantayat, Soumya Shanker Raj, Dr Pratap Pani, BK Mallick, Dillip Mohanty, Dr lN Tripathy, Manoj Khatua, Ramesh Sahoo, Kailash Baishnab, Rima Mishra, Shrabani Swain, Hemant Jena, and Debendra Majhi attended.
Rupa Dash from the US was nominated as co - chairman of organising committee, Jagannth Prasad Udgata as principal spokesperson, Krushna Nayak as chairman, souvenir committee, JK Nayak as convenor and coordinator, HaraPrasad Mohapatra as co-convenor and coordinator, South Zone, Dillip Mohanty as convenor and coordinator of North Zone, Badri Mohapatra as convenor and coordinator and Ram Prasad Muduli as co-convenor and coordinator of West Zone.
