In its crusade against organised crime, Punjab Police has busted a gang of notorious gangsters related to Devinder Bambiha gang and nabbed 11 gang members.
The Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) of Punjab Police’s intelligence wing has arrested one Aman Kumar alias Aman Jaito and Yadwinder Singh alias Yaddu Jaito along with nine others belonging to Devinder shooter gang.
At the same time, the Punjab Police maintained that it would pursue and contest the cases of gangsters in the courts to ensure punishments. Besides, the Police would also curb their activities from inside the jails making the state crime free.
Giving details of the arrest, IGP Intelligence (OCCU) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said that according to preliminary inputs and investigations carried out so far, both were wanted in a case of brutal killing of one Hardev Singh alias Gogi Jatana at the poultry farm of the latter in Rampura Phul on June 17, 2018.
An FIR in this regard had already been registered in Phul police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.
Kunwar Vijay said that this incident of murder was reportedly committed on the instructions of another notorious gangster Sukhpreet Singh alias Budha of Moga and his accomplice Gurbax Singh Sevawala of Faridkot.
“After this killing, Sukhpreet (Budha) went ahead to take credit of this murder on his Facebook Id, for his alleged involvement in the shoot-out resulting in the death of gangster Davinder Shooter in September 2016…Another arrested gang-member Veena Buttar alias Varinderpal Singh of Moga had provided weapons to Aman Jaito which were used in the killing of Gogi Jatana involved in at least six cases of similar nature,” he said.
He said that another arrested gang-members include Bittu Mehal Kalan alias Arshdeep Singh of Barnala who is facing about 34 cases of robbery, dacoity, carjacking etc. Remaining members of this gang are Rajat Kumar alias Safi of Faridkot, Karan Mangla of Barnala, Sukha alias Vicky of Faridkot, Palwinder Singh alias likhri of Moga, Sumit Bajaj alias landi of Faridkot, Alam Bhattal alias Kranti of Barnala and lakhwinder Singh of Faridkot.
“These criminals were involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, ransoms, snatching of vehicles cars, smuggling of narcotics, dealing in illegal weapons besides several cases of hurt and armed robberies and theft across the state of Punjab and Haryana,” said the IG.
He revealed that total 17 numbers of weapons have been recovered from the possession of these gang members which include nine pistols, five revolvers, one rifle and two guns. Some of the weapons are foreign-made, he added.
In addition, two Scorpios and one Hyundai Creta car have also been recovered from their possession. As per preliminary investigations, this Creta car was snatched from Kurukshetra and used in the incident of attack on Parmish Verma during April 2018 by Dilpreet alias Babba and Sukhpreet alias Budha, he added.
Kunwar Vijay said that this gang was also liable in the incident of burning of a Toyota Innova car belonging to president of Municipal Committee of Nihal Singh Wala in March 2018 by Varinderpal Singh alias Veena Bhuttar with Alam Bhattal alias Kranti.
