A person was killed and another was severely injured after being beaten by a bear at Gohiragadia village under the Korai police station in Jajpur district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rama Hesa (65) and the injured as Sukadev Munda (35), both of Valukahudi Sahi.
Rama had gone to a nearby forest to collect medicinal leaves when a wild bear attacked him.
Hearing Rama screaming, Sukadev went to rescue him but was attacked by the bear. Rama died on the spot. Sukadev is now undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
