A day after security forces shot dead a top-ranking Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) terrorist Naveed Jatt and his associate in central Kashmir, two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter in Sharshali village of Khrew pocket in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.
Police said based on a specific tip off, a cordon and search operation was jointly launched by police and security forces at predawn hours.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the terrorists.
The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter,” police said.
Police said no collateral damage took place during the encounter.
The slain terrorists have been identified as Adnan Ahmad Lone, alias, Uqaab and Adil Bilal Bhat alias Umair Al Hizbiboth local residents.
“Both the terrorists were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of terror crimes, including attack on security establishments, and civilian atrocities.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted between youth and security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district when the funeral prayers of a militant Mehrajuddin were being held.
Mehraj was killed in the gunfight at Chattergam area of Budgam district along-with top Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) commander, Naveed Jatt on Wednesday.
