Terror attack at Ratnuchak military station foiled

Security forces have been kept in a state of high alert across Jammu following movement of suspected terrorists in the close vicinity of military station in Bari Brahmana area of Jammu on Saturday night.

According to reports, after noticing the movement of suspected terrorists, an alert sentry had raised an alarm and also challenged them to stop. To prevent them from coming closer to the main gate of the Ratnuchak military station, sentry is learnt to have fired warning shots as well.

Confirming the movement of suspected persons in the area, Defence Ministry spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand, in Jammu said, "the sentry on duty noted a suspicious movement at around 1.50 am at Ratnuchak Military Station in Bari Brahmana area of Jammu. The suspects were challenged but they did not stop, thereafter warning shots were fired by the sentry. The suspects fired back and rushed out of the sight," said Anand.

Massive search and cordon operations were launched by the joint team of security forces in the close vicinity of the military station on Sunday. Separate security check points were also raised at various places to check movement of suspected persons in the area.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told reporters on sunday, "after learning about the suspicious movement outside Ratnuchak military station we too had rushed separate police teams. He said they also took part in the search operations throughout the night. He,however, claimed there was no evidence to suggest about the suspected movement of terrorists in the area. Referring to the ongoing investigations in the grenade attack near General bus stand Late Friday night Singh said, it was an act of mischief. Police teams are investigating the matter, he added.
