The BJP will organise two major events next month, including poetry recital in 4,000 places across the country on September 16, to mark one month of the passing away of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, party president Amit Shah said on Thursday.

Shah said the  event of poetry "Kaviyanjali"  in 4000 Parliamentary and legislative constituencies is being organised for paying tributes to Vajpayee, a poet himself. Audio recordings of Vajpayee's poems will be played in the event, he said.

The second event will start from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will continue till the birth anniversary of party ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on September 25, the BJP President said.

A week-long social-work activities will be organised at 20,000 places, in which medical camps, vaccination of children and cleanliness drives will be carried out in slums. Shah said by carrying out these welfare works, party workers will pay their tributes as 'Karyanjali' to the late BJP patriarch.

BJP has distributed late Vajpayee's urn to all state BJP Presidents so that party workers and common men could pay their homage to the BJP leader in their respective states.  The ashes are to be immersed in 600 rivers across India after a part of  them was immersed in Ganga river in Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
