It has become a norm to utter four letter word during normal course of talks these days but such vulgar, abusive, communal and threatening language was not being used by the politicians and that too by the Ministers openly. But now the bad mouthed top politicians are publicly making vulgar and threatening remarks without any embarrassment or remorse. And without any realisation what message they were sending to the people.
During the past few days some highly placed politicians, including Union Ministers, unabashedly made such remarks which did not suit their stature. One Minister threatened his officials that he would cut their throats if they indulged in corruption and another challenged filmmakers to make a film on Prophet if they were champions of freedom of expression. One MP called the people to burn their representatives to ashes if they did not take care of them.
Union Minister of State for Power (Independent charge) Raj Kumar Singh at a public meeting at Ara which was also attended by the senior officials of the NTPC said, “Sun lo, kahin bhi garbari hui hum gala kaat denge, case kara denge, jail bhejwa denge” (listen, if there is any irregularity I will slit their throats, will file case and send them to jail).
Singh, a retired Union Home Secretary, is first term MP from Ara in Bihar and was known as a tough bureaucrat with terse language.
In his speech at Ara on Saturday last he was referring to the corruption in work. He said there should be transparency in each tender and allotment of work and where his name is linked he would not tolerate any irregularity.
Another Union Minister of State Giriraj Singh jumped into the raging controversy over Padmaavat. No stranger to controversies Singh challenged the filmmakers to make a controversial film on Prophet if they have courage. “Hai agar kisi me himmat to Paighambar sahib par film bana kar dikhaye,” (Why don’t they courage to make a film on Prophet). He said only the Hindu religion is attacked through controversial films. Earlier he said in the name of freedom of expression filmmakers were taking undue advantage. “How we can tolerate if any one shows Gandhi ji dancing bhangra and kathakIJ” he asked.
Controversial MP Rajesh Ranjan better known as Pappu Yadav was quite blunt while asking people to take on their representatives. The MP from Madhepura who quit lalu Prasad’s RJD and now an unattached MP, branded politicians as Ravans and called upon people at Araria to burn down their representatives who were not listening to them. “Neta aur officers lanka me Ravan ki tarah hain unhe jala kar rakth kar dene ki zaroorat hai” (Politicians and officers are like Ravan in lanka and they should be burnt to ashes).
Former Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav who mounts attack on CM Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi accused them of total failure in containing crime and governing the State. Reacting to the allegations that his RJD was behind the attack on CM convoy at a village in Buxar last fortnight Yadav shot back, “Kahe la CM aur Deputy CM bane hain agar aise kand rok nahi sakte. Kahe nahi istifa de dete hain,” (Whey they are still holding the post of CM and deputy CM if they can’t check such attacksIJ Why don’t they resignIJ)
