After BJP national president Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his blistering attack on the Congress Government in Karnataka led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Addressing a massive rally on Tuesday at Davanagere in Central Karnataka to mark the celebrations of 75 birthday of BJP strongman BS Yeddyurappa PM said, “It is now time for the current State Government to go. They have brought such a situation because of their sins. Forget Karnataka they can’t even save their party”.
“Some people believe that there is Siddaramaiah governance in Karnataka, but in reality it is ‘Seedha Rupaiyya’ governance. Har cheej mein Seedha Rupaiyya hota hi’, the PM said chiding the Siddaramaiah-led Congress Government. “This Govt should not be allowed to continue for a single minute. We will do much more than this Government could ever do. We will keep farmers happy, work for the children and the people of this State,” he added.
‘More than Siddaramaiah it is seedha rupaiyya that drives the working of the Government in Karnataka. Everything happens at a price here. Karnataka needs freedom from such corruption’ he blasted ruling Congress Government.
‘Everywhere across the country the people have removed Congress. People know that the problem is Congress culture. Every person is angry with this Govt (congress). This is probably the most anger any Govt has faced,’ he added.
Modi came down heavily on the Family rule in the Congress and said they (Gandhi) did not do anything to the farmers. He said ‘one family ruled the country for 48 years and one tea seller ruled for 48 months. Born in rich houses they could not care for farmers in 48 years. But in 48 months we have, multiplied minimum support price (MSP) by one and half time for the farmers’.
This was the third visit of Modi in a month to poll bound Karnataka which is crucial for the party to come back to power.
He said ‘Today I’m fortunate to get the blessings of Karnataka’s farmers. I am also happy that on Yeddyurappa’s birthday I could wish him in person. I want to congratulate the BJP workers because the Raitha Bandhu Yeddyurappa programme has launched the fistful of grains.’ He said his Government wants to double the farmer’s income by 2022.
‘When I was CM of Gujarat I decided to build the biggest statue of the world, that of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the statue of unity. From 6 lakh villages we had asked for a donation of a piece of iron and melted it and it is used to make the statue. Similarly the fistful of grain will mark a new epoch in Karnataka’s history. I want my farmer brothers to take this programme ahead’, he added.
‘In our country farmers face problems if there is high produce or low produce and if there is a natural disaster. This is why we began Fasal Bhima Yojana. This scheme provides insurance for farmers whose crops are damaged. This scheme ensures that farmers get a minimum price for produce so that they can benefit. In Karnataka Rs 11,000 crore has spent on this scheme’ he added.
