With a view to repeating previous lok Sabha polls performance in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home-State Gujarat in the upcoming 2019 parliamentary polls, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed an 11-member ‘Election Management Committee’ on Wednesday.
Apart from 11 members, Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and the State BJP’s organising secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania are part of the committee by the virtue of their respective posts.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Junior Ministers in Modi Government at centre – Parasotam Rupala and Mansukh Mandvia, three senior Ministers in Vijay Rupani Government – Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Kaushik Patel and Ganapat Vasava, Gujarat BJP’s general secretary Bharatsinh Parmar, Vice-Presidents of the State BJP — Bhargav Bhatt and IK Jadeja, former Gujarat Minister Shanker Chaudhary and ex-parliamentary secretary in the State Government Hira Solanki are appointed in the committee by the party high command.
Sources in the State BJP said that the committee will monitor all the arrangements including public meetings, door-to-door campaign, bringing top national leaders of the party to the State for election campaign, booth management and other election related works across the State.
The committee will also have say in appointment of election in-charges for all 26 lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat. It will also give important suggestion for implementing strategies in view of 2019 lok Sabha elections.
