In a swift action, Goa Police detained a 44-year-old motor-cycle taxi operator for allegedly molesting a US national, who was holidaying in Goa over the Republic Day weekend, after the victim narrated the horrors she went through on Facebook.
Speaking to The Pioneer Anjuna police station inspector Cl Patil said, that the accused Isidore Fernandes was arrested and has confessed to the molesting the young American woman tourist.
“He was arrested from Arambol beach. We identified the suspect on the basis of a photograph which was posted on Facebook,” Patil said.
late on Monday night, a New York-based media professional who was holidaying in Goa during the Republic Day weekend, posted on Facebook about her travails and how she was molested by a motor-cycle taxi driver late on Saturday night.
“He picked me up post-dinner, and when we were making our way back to my hotel in Morjim that he started misbehaving. He asked me if I would give him a kiss and obviously, I said no. I tried to keep it light and suggested he ‘keep it professional’,” read the Facebook post, which has now been shared more than 1500 times till late on Tuesday.
“And then he said he needed to pull over. He stopped his bike and before I could realize what was happening, his p.... was in my hands. I got off the bike, threw a Rs 500 rupee note at him and ran down the street. Thankfully, I got to a busy main road and he lost me,” she also said.
While the victim has not registered a complaint yet, on her Twitter account, she said that she was in the process of filing a formal complaint with the Goa Police.
