The CISF has offered its expertise in securing critical infrastructure from counter-terrorism and anti-hijacking perspective to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for replication by member countries.
CISF Director General Rajesh Ranjan, who attended the two-day ICAO Global Aviation Security Symposium at ICAO headquarters at Montreal (Canada), met ICAO President Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu and suggested that mutual appraisal of system and processes between all contracting states of the civil aviation body for sharing the best practices. The symposium concluded on Thursday.
DG CISF also highlighted the “unique” expertise of CISF in protecting critical infrastructure including those in the aviation sector from the perspective of both - anti hijacking and anti terror which would benefit other regional contracting states and encourage them to adopt similar enabling systems, the CISF said in a statement.
Ranjan also offered to share expertise gathered by CISF over decades of effective aviation security management through an enhanced participation in workshops and panel discussions organised by ICAO.
As a follow up to International Aviation Security Seminar- 2018, organised by CISF, a delegation of CISF led by Ranjan along-with M A Ganapathy, Additional Director General, Airport Sector and Ajay Kumar, Assistant IG attended the Symposium.
The event dealt on subjects like need for effective risk awareness and robust application of enhanced security measures in the wake of emerging threats. It also dwelt upon the need for establishment of a stronger aviation security oversight regime.
The issues like CT-based screening system for cabin baggage, Artificial intelligence, Bio-Metric-based access control among others issues also figured during the discussions. Global Aviation Security Plan, a future aviation security policy and programme framework was also deliberated upon for enhancing aviation security worldwide.
