SC allows demolition at Guj cop's residence
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the demolition of illegal structures at the residential property jointly owned by controversial sacked IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt and his wife in Ahmedabad. The top court, refused to interfere with the Gujarat High Court order directing Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to demolish the illegal constructions.

New Delhi: A crucial Bill seeking to provide death penalty to those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years was taken up for discussion by the lok Sabha on Monday. The Bill seeks to replace the Criminal law (Amendment) Ordinance promulgated on April 21, following an outcry over the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir and the rape of another woman at Unnao in Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: Over 10 lakh posts of teachers at the elementary and secondary level are lying vacant across the country, the lok Sabha was informed on Monday. Uttar Pradesh tops the list of States and Union Territories with maximum number of vacant posts at the elementary level while Jammu & Kashmir tops the list with the maximum number of vacancies at the secondary level, according to data compiled till March 31, 2017.

Over 1.6l visited India for cruise tourism
New Delhi: Tourism Minister KJ Alphons on Monday told Parliament that more than 1.6 lakh people visited India for cruise tourism in 2017-2018. He said that his Ministry had also sanctioned projects worth Rs 106.39 crore for the development of cruise terminal-related infrastructure at the major ports of Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu under the scheme for Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development.
