Four members of a family were murdered in Pataudi’s Brijpura village, around 35 km from Gurugram, on Wednesday night, said police.
A one-year-old girl who was severely wounded also died in hospital the same day. The identity of the accused and the motive behind the murder is not yet clear, police said.
The victims have been identified as Fulbati (62), her son Manish (28), his wife Pinki (24) and their one-year-old daughter Charu. Fulbati and Manish were found in a pool of blood, while Pinki was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
The child was severely wounded and died in hospital the same day. Their son, 2-year-old Akshay was reportedly in school when the killings took place. Village sarpanch Karan Singh, who lives near the family, said the bodies were found inside their house.
A neighbour informed the sarpanch about the murders at around 7:45 pm. The Sarpanch reported the matter to the police.
The police noticed some cuts on Pinki’s wrist and legs and say they are investigating if Pinki murdered the three before committing suicide or if someone entered their house and killed them.
“We had received information that three members of a family had been murdered. A police team along with Forensic experts had visited the spot. A case of murder under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unknown persons and the bodies have been handed over to the family members after the postmortem examination,” said Veer Singh, Assistant Commissioner of police, (Pataudi). “During the probe, it was found Manish and her mother was hit with a sharp-edged weapon. We have deployed police teams in the village to maintain law-and-order,” he said.
Ashok, brother of the victim, said, “When I arrived, there was a huge police force and a lot of people had gathered. Police did not allow us to enter inside.” “It was a clear case of murder and we want strict action against the culprits,” he added.
