The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for setting up two crematoria at Dwarka Sector 24 and Subhash Nagar. The civic body also signed another MoU with Energy Efficiency Services (EESl) limited for upgrading its 100 schools.
SDMC Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel said the initiative will help in containing the adverse effects of climate change. He also said that the new CNG crematoria will not only save tons of wood and trees but also mitigate pollution.
Goel also said the four CNG crematoria will be commissioned within one year. "The PFC under its head of Corporate Social Responsibly (CSR) will provide an amount of Rs 455 lakh, as financial assistance to the SDMC in proportionate installments on the completion of different stages."
The Commissioner further said that SDMC is grateful to EESl for pioneering with SDMC in ensuring better lighting and sanitation and an atmosphere conducive to education in 100 schools.
