In their effort to resolve the ongoing traffic congestion at the Sirhaul toll plaza, Gurugram Traffic Police, officials from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Tuesday visited the spot and issued a new advisory to change the flow of traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The Gurugram police have decided to take new measures in order to improve the things and give relief to commuters from traffic jams on the Delhi-Gurugram border.
To avoid any untoward situations on both carriageways, city traffic police has issued instructions to commercial vehicles to use commercial lane and non-commercial to use non-commercial lanes only.
“The trials will go for few more days and request all commuters to support us to ensure smooth traffic and inconvenience is minimal. We had a detailed discussion on the crucial points, diversions made and the current traffic movements to find out how the jam can be eased out and to ensure smooth movement of traffic in coming days,” Commissioner of Gurugram Police Sandeep Khirwar, said.
Traffic police officials said that the changes have been enforced on a trial basis and commuters will experience an easier ride once they are aware of and familiar with the changes.
“We had circulated information about the root changes thought hoardings and signage but the commuters were stuck due to traffic hurdles on the New Delhi side ahead of the Rajokri flyover. It led to traffic congestion.
However, we expect the commuters to have an easier ride once they are familiar with diversions in the next few days. We believe that this can solve the traffic mess at Sirhaul,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hira Singh.
Earlier on Monday a huge traffic complete chaos at the Sirhaul toll plaza as route diversions put in place by authorities on a trial basis, led to confusion among commuters.
The authorities have placed jersey barriers at various points on the roads leading up to the toll and towards New Delhi on a trial basis. As a result of the root diversions, commuters on the stretch stuck four hours during the peak hours on Monday evening.
