The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will open the door of its upcoming "School of Management and Entrepreneurship" for the wards of artisans, weavers, craftsman etc. so as pave their way for making successful entrepreneurs out of them.
The "School of Management and Entrepreneurship" slated to launch in July 2019 has planned to launch some certificate courses from 2020 onwards wherein young talented weavers from the allays and lanes of Varanasi, youths involved in traditional brass business from Moradabad and likewise would be admitted in short term certificate courses of duration 6 months to 1 year. They will be trained in their traditional art by modern means and would be skilled to become entrepreneur, said a JNU official on anonymity.
The University has been included in the list of non-IIM member institutes who admit management students through Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM). JNU will admit students to its upcoming school starting from July 2019 session based on CAT-2018 scores.
CAT is a pre-requisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow program of IIMs. CAT scores are allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions however IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions.
