Hundred of teachers participated in the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) General Body Meeting (GBM) held at Hansraj College, after which they marched to the V-C Office demanding “permanent appointments on urgent basis, regularis-ation/absorption of ad hoc and temprary teachers and resolution of issues related to promotions and pensions”.
The GBM resolved to intensify their struggle in the coming days by involving students and mobilising public opinion. The DUTA will initiate an Online Signature Campaign amongst teachers, students, parents, researchers and concerned citizens against the “30-70 %funding formula”, “push towards self-financing through Regu-lations on Graded Autonomy and Autonomous Colleges”, “loans through HEFA instead of Grants”. The DUTA will form a human chain at the UGC on March 12 to demand 100% funding of Central and State Universities, immediate filling up of vacant posts through permanent appointments etc.
