Following the completion of open days at north campus DU, organised from May 21 to May 29 at conference centre, the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) office is now organising open days in colleges for DU aspirants. The college open days are being organised by DSW office in coordination with college authorities.
The second college open day will be organised at Hansraj College on Thursday. Third college open day will be organised on 3 June at Rajdhani College, fourth on June 4 at Sri Aurobindo College and IP College, on June 5 at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, on June 6 at Zakir Hussain College and on June 7 at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce.
Gurpreet Singh Tuteja and Amrita Bajaj, Deputy Dean of Students Welfare of DU, were the main spokesperson for the session beside the principal Kalpana Bhakuni and the team of Admissions 2018-19 of the college.
"Even the candidates from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan were present. The queries were mostly related to the admission under Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) category, Sports, withdrawal procedure, change of course and college and about add-on courses and language courses," said Amrita Bajaj.
Bajaj made the presentation for the benefit of all those who attended the session. Dr Tuteja illustrated the formula of "best of four subjects" in different cases. In answer to a particular query, he explained that English subject studied as English literature will be treated as elective subject which can be included along with English Core which is also considered language in the Best four calculations.
Tuteja further clarified that in the treatment of the vocational subject which has theory and practical content if the weightage of theory is less than 70 per cent only than pro-rata calculation will be applied. He further emphasised that the calculation of the best four is verified by the college as there is a possibility that the calculations done by the candidate may not meet the specifications of the college for any particular course.
