In a daring heist carried out on Monday morning, two armed robbers looted Rs 40 lakh in cash and shot at two employees who were travelling in a car at Wazirabad flyover in Northwest Delhi. The duo — carrying the cash to be deposited in SBI bank branch at Wazirpur — was rushed to a nearby hospital and are recuperating, police said.
According to police, at 12.37 pm a call was received on the Police Control Room that cash has been robbed and two people have been injured in firing.
“The employees of Sanyog enterprises private ltd (HQ at Nangloi in West Delhi) were going in I 20 car with the cash.
“On Wazirpur flyover the car was hit by swift desire and when they came out they were shot by assailants. Two injured have been identified as Tejpal of Mongolpuri area and Rajkumar, a resident of Subzi Mandi,” said police.
Meanwhile, police officials said robbers were tipped off about the cash being carried and the specific route and they were waiting for the car to arrive at Wazirabad flyover. A case has been lodged and probe has been launched, an official said.
