The Delhi Police crime branch’s Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad on Thursday arrested three members of Neeraj Bawania gang from Dwarka in National Capital.
Police have recovered two automatic US made pistols, one country made pistol, six cartridges and a stolen Maruti Swift car from their possession.
“The accused are identified as Vaasu (30), Sarjeev (24) and Yogesh (27). There was information that the accused will be coming near Sector-14, Dwarka Metro Station in a stolen Swift car. Acting on the tip off trap was laid by police and the accused were nabbed from the spot. On search, two automatic pistols along with 4 live cartridges and one country made pistol along with two live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Accordingly, a case under appropriate sections of law was registered and the accused persons were arrested in the case,” said Ajit Kumar Singla, Additional Commissioner of Police, crime branch.
“During interrogation the accused Vaasu revealed that he was lodged in jail for last 6 years in several cases of murder and attempt to murder. In the jail, he came in contact with gangster Neeraj Bawania and joined his gang. In the year 2015, he along with his associates had killed rival gangster of Rajesh Bawania and Ishwar,” said Singla.
“On 07 June, Vaasu was out on parole for 10 days, but he jumped the parole and was absconding. He revealed that he was planning for a big loot to arrange money for marriage of his sister. He stole a Swift Car from Shahbad Dairy and along with his associate Sarjeev and others fired several rounds of gunshot to terrorize a businessman and to establish supremacy in the area,” said Singla.
“Accused Saravjeet is involved in several cases including a case in which he along with his associates robbed the service pistol from a Constable in Adarsh Nagar area. Accused Yogesh was sentenced for 6 years in a robbery case of the year 2012 of PS Burari. Yogesh has been released recently. Concerned authorities have been informed regarding arrest of accused persons. Investigation of the case is in progress,” Singla added.
