A 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death by two men while she intervened to save her husband in South-East Delhi’s Govindpuri area on Wednesday night.
Police said that the husband had objected to the duo, just 10 minutes before the incident, as they were inappropriately touching his wife at the local market.
locals thrashed the duo and later handed them over to the police. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ajay (23) and Bijender (24), who allegedly stabbed Suman (26) after her husband objected to the two men standing inappropriately close to the woman.
“We had gone to the weekly market in Govindpuri to do some shopping as we had planned to leave for our hometown on Thursday for the function of our youngest child. I was standing at some distance with my kids while my wife was doing shopping. All of a sudden, I observed two men who came and one of them stood inappropriately close to her,” said Umesh Dubey, the victim’s husband.
Dubey went and objected to it and an argument broke out between Dubey and the two men. However, the accused went away. Suman resumed her shopping. When the family were about to leave the market, the two accused allegedly came to them with knives in their hands and attacked them.
