An International narcotic drug cartel was busted by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Friday near Haiderpur metro station in North west Delhi. The police were able to recover 10 kg heroin worth Rs 40 crore in the international market. The two arrested drug peddlers were identified as Dhanraj Parjapat (38) and Wasim Khan (27) — both residents of Partapgarh District, Rajasthan.
DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said, “On June 25, Sub-Inspector Praveen Rathi received a tip-off that a huge consignment of drugs would be supplied in Shalimar Bagh area of the national Capital by two key members of the cartel to their counterparts in Delhi. The team then set up a trap and arrested these individuals. During interrogation, the two accused claimed that they worked as drugs carrier for one Babu Khan, resident of Rajasthan. They also claimed to have procured the heroin from one Nazir in Manipur, who was in contact with Babu Khan”.
The duo was put to sustained interrogation. They revealed that heroin recovered by the team was brought from Myanmar via Manipur and Assam, said the DCP. The members of the cartel are based in Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. They are accused of supplying drugs in Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR), Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Mobile phones and SIM cards were also recovered from their possession, he said.
The drugs were concealed in a hidden cavity in the rear seat of their Maruti Ritz which was also recovered by the team. Investigation has revealed, the arrested Dhanraj Parjapat and Wasim Khan were lured into the drug trafficking cartel by Babu Khan and were working for him for the last 4-5 years. Nasir, the supplier from Manipur is absconding, said the DCP.
