The Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management recently organised the mini marathon Run for Education on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in association with Delhi Police and Jaagriti NGO that acts as an abode for the underprivileged children and provides pre-school and post-school education. The event was also partnered with Safe Express, Coca Cola, and Ayushman Hospital and Health services.
The funds collected from this run was contributed towards the education of these underprivileged children. The 6.5 km long run across Dwarka was graced by the presence of the chief guest Madhup Tewari, joint commissioner of police, Delhi Police-western range and Guest of honour Anto Alphonse, DCP, Delhi Police, Dwarka District; Dr DK Srivastava, director, LBSIM; Dr GL Sharma and Mudit Shastri, member, advisory body, LBSIM.
The event was inaugurated by paying homage to Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri followed with an encouraging speech by the director of our institute Dr Srivastava about the idea of fostering equal opportunity for everyone around the globe. The event witnessed of about 800 footfalls. Participants of all ages were seen running towards one common objective to send children to school.
There were three categories of races — males, females, and senior citizen with the fastest finisher being 21 minutes setting a new record then the previous ones. We also had a race for children below the ages of 10 who also contributed towards the cause. All the winners were recognised, and participants praised for their contribution. The prizes included medals, certificates, trophies and cash prizes for the first three positions. The top 100 finishers were also awarded medals.
