ComMutiny — the Youth Collective (CYC) organisation recently organised the National Celebration of Samvidhan live— The Jagrik Project, where top Jagriks from across 14 states of the country were felicitated in Delhi and engage actively in discussion with various key speakers.
The initiative format is unique in that each ‘Jagrik’ (jagruk + nagrik) was paired with another Jagrik from a different background but near similar in age. Both embarked on a journey to discover their dreams, values, question their responsibilities and performed several duties as tasks to explore their inside-out youth leadership. The duo completes challenges that tested them emotionally and physically.
The initiative engaged thousands of people from different walks of life across 24 organisations in 14 States through their on-ground 3000 social and selfaction tasks held over a period of five weeks. lokasish Saha, CEO of CYC, said: “Samvidhan live— The Jagrik Project has been a successful experiment that has taken the Constitution from textbooks into the lives of young people who have demonstrated and lived its values as active citizens. While we were always confident of the success of the initiative, we are overwhelmed by the support this initiative has garnered from all kinds of stakeholders —youth, parents, legislators, educators, media and more — from all across the country.”
Ravi Gulati, founder Manzil and co-founder CYC, spoke about the initiative and its impact on the constitutional literacy levels among the Jagriks. He reiterated that it was critical for experiences to be created for young people to imbibe the values of the constitution.
The event also saw an Idea-a-thon straight from some key stakeholders from civil society on raising constitutional literacy. Vinita Singh, Trustee, We The People, Venkatesh Srinivasan, Assistant Representative, UNFPA, Neha Buch CEO, Pravah, Navendu Mishra Co-Founder Agrini, Shilpa Jhawar, Founder Anhad Pravah and Souvik Saha, Co-Founder People 4 Change, shared creative, out of the box ideas that can lead to a more constitutionally aware citizenry.
The event saw interactive spot games and live display and sharing of ‘Reality Action Projects’ undertaken by Jagriks and much more.
