MSc Sustainable Engineering

The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, is inviting applications for MSc Sustainable Engineering: Offshore Renewable Energy course starting in September 2018. The Faculty of Engineering runs a multi-disciplinary postgraduate course entitled Sustainable Engineering with a number of different themes, one of which is offshore renewable energy.

This flexible programme combines study in specialist, advanced engineering technologies underpinned with training in sustainability. The programme has been developed with direct industrial involvement to provide students with a solid understanding of modern, sustainable engineering. As well as gaining an understanding of how sustainable engineering applies to offshore renewable energy, this programme will also provide students with key transferable skills to aid their employability.

The course is designed for experienced or newly qualified engineers in naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering or related disciplines.

Students will work with a group of students from different pathways of the Sustainable Engineering programme and produce sustainable solutions to real-life industry problems. This project will include site visits, field trips and progress reports to industry partners. MSc students will also study a selected topic in depth and submit a thesis. This course is accredited by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) on behalf of the UK Engineering Council.

Eligibility: BEng with first, or second class (upper division) honours or equivalent overseas qualification.

Fee: £18,750 for international students.

UG in Physics & Biology

Admissions to Ashoka University, a pioneer in liberal Arts and Sciences Education in India, invites application for a three-year BA Hons or BSc Hons degree from a range of interdisciplinary majors. A fourth year PG diploma programme is also open to all Ashoka University graduates who would like to conduct further research in an academic discipline of their choice or pursue an internship in the social sector.

The last date to apply is April 2, 2018. The deadline is subject to change depending on the Class XII board examinations. The academic year for the fifth batch of UG will begin on August 18, 2018.

The University strengthened its Sciences department as it launched pure majors in Physics and Biology from the academic year 2017-2018. The University aims to enable students to gain exposure to research, experimentation and understand a subject through hands-on experience, right from the undergraduate level.

There are no barriers or high school requirements to access a degree in Biology at Ashoka. However, during the degree, students are expected to take courses in Mathematical Biology / Biophysics. In order to major in Physics, the student is required to have taken Mathematics (including calculus) up to Class XII.

liberals Arts and Sciences is a wide ranging, multi-disciplinary offer which also includes Degrees in Economics and Computer Sciences. Students can design their own course components in discussion with faculty and their own interests. Undergraduate degree majors at Ashoka University include BSc in Computer Science / Mathematics / Computer Science and Entrepreneurship / Economics and Finance / Physics / Biology.

And BA Hons in Economics / English, History/ History and International Relations / Politics, Philosophy and Economics / Politics and Society / Philosophy / Political Science / Psychology / Sociology or Anthropology / Economics and History / English and Journalism / English and Creative Writing.

The admission process includes a personal interview followed by a mandatory on-the-spot essay and an optional Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT). The AAT is a 90-minute test that has three sections: verbal, quantitative and analytical reasoning.  An applicant needs to have taken the SAT or ACT or Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT) or produce their final Class XII board scores.
