Kabul: At least 14 people were killed when Afghan security forces repelled a Taliban attack in Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday. “Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Darzab district on Sunday night. Nine others were wounded as security forces repelled the attack,” Xinhua news agency quoted the official as saying.

170 PEACOCKS DIE OF AVIAN DISEASE IN PAK
Islamabad: Some 170 peacocks have reportedly succumbed to an avian disease in Pakistan’s Tharparkar region, local media reported. Tharparkar’s honorary district game warden Talook Chand Valasai confirmed the death toll, saying at least 30 birds died in various parts of the desert during the last couple of days.
