Not opening gates at bus stops: DTC staff to keep tabs on errant drivers

Sunday, 31 December 2017 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will now keep tabs on drivers, who do not open both the gates of the buses at bus stops, thus causing much inconvenience to the boarding and de-boarding passengers. The field checking staff has been instructed to inspect and report such errant drivers to the DTC.

The DTC’s Chief General Manager (Operations) has issued a circular earlier this week, taking cognizance of the complaints of gates of buses not opening at the prescribed stops.

“It has been observed that DTC drivers are not opening both the gates of the buses at prescribed bus stands for the boarding and de-boarding thus causing inconvenience to the passengers,” said the circular.

Despite of Delhi Metro having good connectivity, still DTC ferries about three million passengers on daily basis in its fleet of about 3,900 buses.
