Directing BJP Ministers to pull up their socks and expand the base of the party in all three regions of the State, BJP chief Amit Shah on Saturday delivered a crisp message — ‘Nation comes first and not the Government’.
This one line statement by BJP chief is significant in the wake of prevailing political/security situation in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
Shah was addressing a special gathering of party Ministers, legislators, MlC’s and State rung leaders on the occasion of his two-day visit to the State.
Accompanied by national general secretaries Ram lal, Ram Madhav, J&K incharge Avinash Rai Khanna, MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh. Amit Shah was accorded warm welcome by the party supporters.
From airport he was escorted by party workers riding motor cycles without wearing crash helmets.
Enroute party workers showered flower petals as he stepped out on the pedestal of the car and acknowledged cheering supporters dancing on the drum beats and traditional Dogri musical notes.
The entire route from airport to convention centre was dotted with king size hoardings.
Ironically, large number of them were twisted and suffered damages due to high speed winds.
Sharing his concern for the current situation in Kashmir valley, BJP chief also made it clear that the party was standing like a ‘rock’ behind jawans of security forces tackling situation on ground zero.
Speaking to reporters outside the Convention centre Avinash Rai Khanna said,” the main focus of the party chief Amit Shah was on expanding the base of the party in the State and reviewing the organisation work. He ruled out possibility of imposing Governors’ rule in the state clarifying there was no threat to the alliance Government headed by Mehbooba Mufti in the State.
During the hour long meeting BJP chief also took stock of the report cards of party Ministers and directed State party chief and State general secretary (organisation) to submit a detailed report to him.
Amit Shah is scheduled to hold break fast meeting with RSS leaders at Veer Bhawan on Monday.
He will be discussing the current political situation in the state with state RSS leaders before holding another round of meetings with State leaders at the party office.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah also advised party ministers not to remain confined to their own constituencies and consolidate their grip over two other regions of the state.
“Step out and move around all three regions of the state including Kashmir valley and ladakh region and address grievances of the people of the state” Amit Shah was quoted by senior party legislators having said this during the meeting.
BJP Chief also met prominent citizens and representatives of trade bodies. According to party grapevine during his stay in Jammu Amit Shah is expected to gather feedback about the non performing party ministers in the state and if required show them the exit door to shore up the image of the party in front of electorate.
