Standing at the doorstep of 2018, the Delhi Government claims the per capita income of Delhi is almost three times that of national average. As per “Delhi Statistical Hand Book-2017” released by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, for the year 2016-17 the per capita income at national level is Rs 1,03,219, while for Delhi it is estimated to be Rs 3,03,073. Also, it saw an increase of 10.76 per cent as compared to 9.7 per cent at national level over the last year (2015-16).
As per the Delhi Statistical Handbook -2017, the consumption of Diesel in Delhi has decreased from 15,08,000 metric tonne (MT) during 2015-16 to 12,67,000 MT during 2016-17. While the consumption of petrol also marginally increased from 9,02,000 MT to 9,06,000 MT during the same period. Sisodia said it shows increasing awareness of residents of Delhi towards curbing air pollution.
As per the data, DTC bus services were availed by average 31.55 lakh passengers daily during 2016-17. The total strength of fleet of DTC buses is 4,027 out of which 1,275 buses are air
conditioned. Also, the number of PNG connections has increased from 4,61,881 in 2015-16 to 5,22,747 during 2016-17. The total number of metered water connections increased from 19.49 lakh in 2015-16 to 23.16 lakh in 2016-17. The water consumption is 14,914 lakh kilo litres in 2016-17. The per capita consumption of water in Delhi is 47 gallons per day.
As per the handbook, there were 1,145 health institutions with 52,003 beds in Delhi as on December 31, 2016 as compared to 1,131 health institutions with 48,131 beds as on December 31, 2015. There were 193 maternity and child welfare centers with 330 beds and 824 allopathic, 258 ayurvedic/unani & 176 homeopathic dispensaries in Delhi as on December 31, 2016.
The total number of schools in Delhi were 5,772 in 2016-17. Around 44.43 lakh children were enrolled in these schools during 2016-17, as compared to 44.31 lakh student during 2015-16. Out of 44.43 lakh total enrolled students up to Senior Secondary School level, 23.55 lakh were boys and 20.88 lakh were girl students.
