Assam cop held for objectionable FB post against woman MlA

Sunday, 30 April 2017 | Anup Sharma | Guwahati

A senior cop was on Saturday arrested in Assam’s capital town Guwahati for posting objectionable comment on Facebook against a women legislator of the ruling party.

Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay confirmed the arrest and said that CID of the Assam Police have started the investigation against arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Anjan Bora.

Bora, a Assam Police Service cadre had posted on Facebook that a woman legislator of the ruling party is involved in prostitution and that she is running a racket from her office in the Assam Secretariat.

While the BJP’s Mahila Morcha lodged an FIR in this regard, the CID of Assam Police had also registered a case against Bora.

He was produced in a local court on Saturday after his arrest and was subsequently granted bail against bail bonds of Rs 10,000.

Bora, however, stood by his allegation and said that he has evidence to prove his allegation.

The officer, who was suspended after the arrest, however said that he would expose the BJP and some of the party leaders.
