Anticipating fresh flare up of tensions along the line of Control, Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat Saturday told 'foot soldiers' of the Indian Army to remain 'ever ready' and vigilant to respond to any misadventures by the inimical forces.
Army Chief who visited forward areas of frontier Rajouri district also reiterated the continued need to remain prepared in order to counter the nefarious designs of the enemy.
On the occasion he was briefed by GoC of Ace of Spades division about the operational preparedness of the soldiers.
Army Chief's visit to the forward areas is expected to boost morale of the soldiers deployed along the line of Control and actively involved in robust counter infiltration grid.
Four armymen including a Major and three jawans were martyred in a brutal strike by Border Action Team of Pakistan Army in Keri sector of Rajouri on December 23.
To avenge the killing of Indian soldiers 'Ghatak' commandos had launched a counter offensive inside PoK to eliminate equal number of Pakistani soldiers on December 25.
The Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, accompanied by the Northern Army Commander lt Gen D Anbu also visited Nagrota based headquarters of White Knight Corps to review the operational preparedness and the prevailing security situation.
According to Defence spokesman, "the Army Chief was briefed by lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC, White Knight Corps about the preparedness of White Knight Corps in dealing with the emerging and dynamically changing security situation and the measures taken to thwart any misadventure by the inimical forces".
He also visited forward posts along the loC where he was briefed in detail on the actions being undertaken to ensure a robust counter infiltration grid.
General Bipin Rawat while complimenting the formations for their unflinching efforts and reiterated the continued need to remain prepared in order to counter the nefarious designs of the enemy.
