Sunday, 31 December 2017 | PNS | Lucknow

A group of men hacked a rival youth to death while he was sleeping inside his shanty in Shahabad police station area of Hardoi on the intervening night on Friday and Saturday.

As per reports, Manoj Kanjar (30) of Kheda Divijei village had a rivalry over a trivia with Guddu, Prabhu and Akash of Mahaliya village in Kotwali Dehat police station area of Hardoi. The trio have been living in Kheda Divijei village presently.

On Friday night, the trio attacked Manoj who was sleeping inside his shanty and was all alone. They attacked him with a sharp edged weapon inflicting severe injuries and killing him on the spot. Hearing the commotion, the victim’s sister Baby along with her husband and other family members rushed to the scene only to find Manoj lying in a pool of blood and unresponsive. They rushed him to a hospital where Manoj was declared dead upon arrival.

Baby lodged an FIR alleging the role of the trio in the murder of Manoj. She told police that she saw the accused fleeing the scene when she along with her family rushed to Manoj’s shanty to save him. Explaining the reason behind the attack, Baby said that she and Manoj had a long standing enmity with the accused and they had a brawl with Guddu and his family on December 27.

“Then the locals had intervened and the situation was defused. But Guddu was unable to digest the humiliation and had threatened us to be ready for dire consequences in the next few days,” she alleged.

Police registered a case in this connection and teams were formed to nab the absconding accused.
