In order to accommodate all goods vehicles at one place and make the capital city traffic problem-free, a world class transport city would be created as part of the Smart City at a safer location soon.
Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and Bhubaneswar (North) MlA Priyadarshi Mishra informed this at the 31st foundation day celebration of the Bhubaneswar Goods Transport Association (BGTA) held here recently.
The Ganesh Puja was also held amid fervour on the occasion. Noted stone sculptor Padma Bibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra presided over the programme. Eight noted persons were felicitated on the occasion. While Priyadarshi Mishra was honoured as the best MlA, Anant Narayan Jena as the best Mayor and media personality Suneel Kumar Das, columnist Janyasth Badapanda, lawyer Akshay Prasad Behera, SP (Traffic ) Jatin Panda and senior journalist Bidhubhushan Patnaik were felicitated.
BJTA president Niranjan Praharaj orchestrated the programme where secretary RN Nayak read out annual report.
Praharaj said the BJTA’s 10-year-long demand for construction of transportation city would be fulfilled soon as ‘the Chief Minister has already agreed to a proposal for setting of the city on a 250 acre area on the city outskirts soon.’
