Special Task Force, Uttarakhand has arrested a criminal Murad Ali alias Irshad Ali alias Arun, native of Rohtak (Haryana) against whom police had announced bounty of `2,500 after he had escaped from the police custody when he was being taken to appear in the court at Kashipur.
The accused was arrested from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night and handed over to GRP, Kathgodam.
Police grilled the accused and it was revealed that along with five other persons, he had murdered one Nasir in Kashipur area in 2009. The accused Murad had escaped from sub-jail after jumping boundary wall in 2009. STF had arrested him on January 5, 2015 and recovered a country- made pistol from his possession.
After he had escaped police had announced a bounty of `10,000 for his arrest.
Again on July 22, 2015, accused Murad Ali had escaped from police custody when he was being taken to appear in the court, Kashipur. Several cases were earlier registered against him in Kashipur police station, Haldwani, ITI, Udham Singh Nagar and GRP Kathgodam, said SSP P Renuka Devi.
She said that acting on a tip- off, a team of STF sub-inspector Santosh Kumar Shah, chief constable Ved Prakash Bhatt, constables Mahendra Singh Negi, Sanjay Kumar and Deepak Tanwar from Gautam Buddh Nagar was formed to capture him.
