Varsity teachers want superannuation at 65

Friday, 31 March 2017 | PNN | BHUBANESWAR

The Federation of Odisha University Teachers’ Association (FOUTA) held a demonstration here on Wednesday demanding enhancement of their superannuation age to 65 years.

The teachers of 12 State Government universities went in a silent procession from the OUAT to the Raj Bhavan and a team of the teachers headed by FOUTA convenor Professor Bibudha Parasar met Governor and Chancellor of universities Dr SC Jamir and submitted a memorandum requesting his prompt intervention in resolving the issues of the teachers.

The FOUTA, besides demanding enhancement of superannuation age to 65 years, also sought immediate and rational implementation of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and incentives for higher studies

The FOUTA warned that if their demands are not met by April 30, the lecturers, Readers and Professors would embark on a cease-work stir, for which the students would suffer.

The association said that for the last three years, they have been holding discussions with the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellors and the Chief Secretary but in vain.
