After the ‘ink’ controversy in the Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana last year when 12 votes of Congress MlAs were declared invalid, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made an appeal to the MlAs and MPs to use the pen given by the Election Commission during the presidential polls.
During the two separate meetings with BJP and INlD leaders, Anil Jain, Haryana’s BJP incharge made an appeal to the elected representatives to ensure that they use the pens supplied by the EC and do not carry their own pen during the election.
He also apprised the MlAs and MPs about the electoral process and how to cast their vote during the election.
Speaking at the meeting with INlD leaders, the BJP leader said, “I request you to follow the rules during the presidential election. Do not carry your pen and take the pen given by the EC during the voting.
These pens will be given to electors in the polling stations by the designated officials along with the ballot paper and use of any other pen will attract invalidation of votes.”
