Trucks seized for illegal sand mining

Giridih Civil SDO Vijiya Jadhav with the help of local police squad seized 125 trucks engaged in illegal sand excavation from Baradih sand ghat of Barakar river during late night raid on Tuesday-Wednesday. Sources said that still illegal excavation of sand during night hours and that too with the help of JCB machines was underway uninterrupted for the last several months while the  SDO got a tip-off about the illegal mining and conducted the raid.

Trucks laden with sand and those lined up for their turns were confiscated from the spot. Some others machines engaged in digging of sand from the riverbed too were seized during the raid, she said. According to the SDO, all trucks seized in the raid are registered in different districts including Gaya, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Gorakhpur and the sand mined from the Baradih ghat was being transported there.
