The weekend saw intermittent spells of rain in the lake city Nainital and its surrounding areas. Being a Sunday, a considerable number of people from surrounding areas and other tourists were visiting Nainital where the rain intensified past the afternoon. With a number of visitors in town, the rain not only caused the tourists to scatter in search of shelter but also caused the usual public inconvenience with some of the road becoming water logged due to the spell of rain which lasted about two hours past the afternoon. At various places the dirty water from sewers overflowed into the Naini lake. Some of the routes blocked due to rainfall in the region are yet to be reopened for traffic.
