Tension prevailed in the Kujang Community Health Centre (CHC) campus on Saturday after a newborn baby died allegedly due to delay in shifting to Cuttack Shishu Bhawan.
Reports said a pregnant woman, Parthapriya Rout of Baradia village, had been admitted in the CHC for delivery. She gave birth to a female baby with deformities on Saturday wee hours. The CHC authorities delayed in sending the baby to the Shishu Bhawan in Cuttack. The kid was received dead at the Shishu Bhawan.
As the news spread, hundreds of villagers and local residents converged at the CHC and staged a protest meeting. Family members too lodged complaint at the Kujang police station alleging that the baby died due to delay in shifting to the Shishu Bhawan.
Administration officials came and held discussions with the agitating villagers and assured them to conduct a probe and take action against those found guilty in the presence of CHC MO Dr Prasanna Panda.
