Tension erupted at the Capital Hospital here late on Wednesday night over the death of a young woman in a road accident while her family members alleged that she was murdered.

Family members and friends of the deceased staged a dharna in front of the hospital keeping the body there after taking it out from the morgue room forcefully.

According to the family members of the deceased Chandini Moharana (22), she had gone outside on Wednesday evening. later, she informed them that she was with two friends and would return home after having a checkup at a private hospital as she was feeling sick.

Around 9.30 pm, her family members were informed over phone that she had been admitted to the Capital Hospital after being critically injured in an auto-rickshaw accident. They rushed to the hospital and found her dead.

Unable to believe her death due to an accident, they broke the lock of the morgue room of the hospital, took out her body and staged a dharna at the hospital alleging that she had been murdered.

Police reached the spot and took the situation under control.

Hospital staffs said a youth had admitted Chandini to the hospital in a critical condition saying that she and her friend Monali sustained injuries as an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling overturned after dashing into a vehicle from the rear. The youth left the hospital handing over the mobile phone of Chandini to hospital staffs, following which they informed her family members about the incident.

Police have questioned the auto-rickshaw driver after detaining him. The three-wheeler has been seized by police.
