Shashank Singh Patel, player of Madhya Pradesh Martial Arts Taekwondo Academy brought laurel to the State by bagging a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Taekwondo championship 2017.
The Commonwealth Taekwondo championship was played at Canada on September 27-28 where Shashank exhibited an impressive show. Similarly, academy’s player latika Bhandari bagged the silver medal at the championship.
In the final match of the championship under-78kg, Shashank Singh won the Gold by defeating the host Canadian player. Similarly, latika Bhandari earned silver medal in under-53 kg weight category.
On this achievement by academy’s players, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Yashodhara Raje Scindia has expressed her contentment and congratulated medalist Shashank Singh and latika Bhandari. Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Upendra Jain also appreciated the performance of the players of Taekwondo Academy at international level and wished them a bright future ahead.
It is to be noted that Academy’s player Nakul Malhotra also participated in the championship. The players are receiving their training from Coach BlN Murthy.
Meanwhile, a farewell was bid to Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department PS Bundela here on Friday. A formal ceremony was organised at Dhyanchand Hall, TT Nagar Stadium.
To begin with the farewell, Director of SSPorts and Youth Welfare Department Upendra Jain presented a boquet and memento to PS Bundela. While addressing the programme, Jain said that a person’s identity is only made by the works done by him. Referring to the remarkable works done by Bundela, he appreciated his work style. He said Bundela has been a major contributor to sports which cannot be forgotten. The sports director gave his best wishes for future endeavours.
