Sweeping higher edu reforms on cards

The State Government has formed five committees to bring reforms in the higher education system and impart quality education in the State.

The panels will give their reports to the Government about different subjects. A committee headed by Utkal University Vice Chancellor (VC) and comprising the VCs of the Berhampur University, the Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University and the Odisha State Open University as members has been constituted for unitary admission process for all the universities.

Similarly, another committee has been formed for On Time Graduation (OTG) monitoring system in the State varsities. The panel is headed by Parameswar B and comprises the examination controllers of theNorth Odisha University, the Rama Devi Women’s University, the Utkal University and the Berhampur University as other members.

The Government has formed a committee headed by the Rama Devi Women’s University VC to bring reform in UPSC examinations, National Eligibility Test (NET), PG courses and change in graduation degree courses in pattern of Central universities. The panel has been asked to submit its report to the Higher Education Department within two months.

A five-member committee has been constituted for reformation in managing the examinations in universities, autonomous colleges and Plus Three degree colleges. The panel is led by the Gangadhar Meher University VC. Utkal University Examination Controller Pradip Kumar Behera, Berhampur University Examination Controller, the principals of the Khariar College and BJB Autonomous College have been selected as the members of the committee.

A committee headed by the Fakir Mohan University VC  comprising VCs of the North Odisha University, the Utkal University, the Berhampur University and the Examination Controller of the Gangadhar Meher University will prepare an academic calendar for conducting examinations, announcing results and providing certificates in degree and PG courses. The Higher Education Department has asked the panel to submit the report within two months.
